Shimano Front Derailleur Skid Plates

When your front derailleur skid plate wears, the derailleur often shows the signs of over-shifting and under-shifting in relation to the plate position. The reason is, this small plastic guide provides a low friction contact point to help shift the chain up, and when it wears, the derailleur is effectively "wider" for it having a part missing.
