The ultimate titanium quality that only those who possess it can truly appreciate. Titanium, boasting high corrosion resistance, becomes a "gift of time" passed down through generations.

The TITAN15A is a 15mm hub nut wrench crafted via hot forging from a domestically produced titanium alloy—a material also utilised in the aerospace and medical industries. It is made from "6Al-4V titanium alloy," which offers the hardness required to meet JIS standards while weighing approximately 60% less than a steel wrench. For the surface finish, we adopted the "Gibeon Finish," inspired by the Gibeon meteorite and featuring visible grinding marks. This design was made possible precisely because the material is highly corrosion-resistant titanium, eliminating the need for plating.

The defining feature of the TITAN15A is its "DIY style," allowing you to complete the product yourself. With previous models in the Titanium Wrench series, the manufacturer applied the anodising finish to deliver a refined, ready-made design—an approach rooted in standardised industrial processes.

With this new model, we invite you to enjoy the special experience of using a torch to create the colour finish yourself, transforming the tool into a truly original piece. Because the appearance shifts based on heating time and temperature, the result is a unique, artistic item—one of a kind in the world.

When titanium is heated, a thin oxide film forms on its surface in reaction to oxygen in the atmosphere, and it develops a gradient colour due to light interference. While this DIY process is popular for dressing up motorcycle mufflers and outdoor goods, careful temperature management by eye and pre-preparation are essential for a beautiful finish.

REQUIRED TOOLS
Gas burner: A commercially available high-power torch is suitable.
Degreaser: Parts cleaner or alcohol.
S-hook: A metal hook for hanging the tool.
Safety gear (just in case): Heat-resistant gloves, safety glasses, fire extinguishing equipment.
A bucket of water.

HOW TO
1. Completely degrease the surface using parts cleaner or alcohol; avoid touching it with bare hands afterward. Even the oil from your fingertips can leave marks that appear as patterns.
2. Heat the area where you want to create colour while maintaining a consistent distance between the burner tip and the tool. Heating a single spot causes the colour to develop faster in that specific area. If you want to colour a larger area, heat the entire surface evenly to maintain a uniform temperature.
3. Allow the tool to cool after colouring. Do not touch it directly; instead, submerge it in the bucket of water.
4. After cooling it in the water for about 20 seconds, remove the tool and gently wipe it dry with a towel.

The appearance of the colours changes depending on the lighting. Dark environments make it difficult to see the colour development clearly and are not suitable for this work. We recommend checking the colour changes in natural daylight at first.

Judging the colour change and knowing when to stop is crucial. Initially, keep heating while watching for your desired colour; as soon as you see it begin to appear, remove the flame immediately to check. Once you go past the desired colour, it cannot be reversed.

Don't worry if you make a mistake. You can sand off the finish using sandpaper or an abrasive and heat it again.

Rubbing the surface with coarse-grit sandpaper before heating allows you to achieve a vintage look.

COLOUR CHANGES

The colour changes based on heating time and temperature.

Start by heating the entire area you wish to colour. A pale gold hue will begin to emerge within 1 to 2 minutes of heating. The colour begins as a pale gold, then shifts through orange and purple to titanium blue. Beyond titanium blue, it transitions to more subdued colours such as white (sometimes green) and grey.
